Legal counseling

In IUSTITIA provides free of charge legal advice to persons who were attacked for their affiliation or perceived affiliation to ethnic, racial, religious, sexual, political, social groups, for their membership of subculture or due to their age and health condition.

The legal advice includes consultations of criminal, administrative and civil law issues and is provided in following forms:

Single consultation:

• General information on criminal proceeding and the position of a witness and a victim
• General information on the possibilities of compensation for caused health, material and other damages
• General information on possible legal steps besides criminal proceedings

Single consultation can be provided anonymously and arranged according to clients´ time and location preferences.

Multiple consultations during criminal and administrative proceedings:

• Accompanying victims through criminal and administrative proceedings
• Assistance with complaint and appeal lodgements
• Legal representation of hate crime victim based on granted full authority
• An organization legal representative leads a client through criminal proceedings and mitigates its negative impacts on client´s life
• A representative takes part in all fundamental acts in proceedings, on behalf of his/her client makes proposals and defends client´s interests and rights. A representative respects client´s wishes and preferences
• A client can cancel the legal representation at any time (without specifying the reason)

Arrangement of pro bono attorney through Pro bono center

• Pro bono center offers free of charge legal advice to people in difficult social situations. Victims themselves cannot request services of Pro bono center. It must by requested by an NGO which is a member of this organization.

Legal advice and consultations are provided across the whole Czech Republic.

We respect dignity, individuality, safety and other rights of our clients. Under certain conditions we communicate with our clients anonymously.

General counseling is offered to victims, their families, witnesses, assisting persons and public administration.
