In IUSTITIA at the public hearing in the Senate of the CR
In IUSTITIA was present at the public hearing in the Senate of the Czech Republic called "We demand single measurement - punishment and legislation".
The hearing was initiated by HERPNO which is a racist and populist organization claiming to be founded in order to "promote more effective banishment of undesirable behavior of that non-adaptable people" (read Roma people). This particular session concerned HERPNO´s anxiety that police and law does not treat people equally, i.e. in their words that Roma people are getting privileges when charged with crimes. It is alarming that politicians (in this case senator Miroslav Antl from Czech Social Democratic Party) legitimize these opinions by inviting them to debate with high representatives of Czech justice and public administration. Fortunately, the representatives made it clear that when it comes to legal system and its implementation there is no double measurement whatsoever and HERPNO´s arguments have no solid foundations.
